Comparative Analysis of Dropout and Student Permanence in Rural Higher Education

The growing dropout and low permanence of rural students in higher education has become a central problem the system, both affecting quality conditions training programmes preventing materialisation benefits that achieving this educational level entails for society. However, study these events populations is scarce, resulting an inadequate treatment and, consequently, impossibility consolidating student permanence. Thus, aim article to identify which individual, academic, socio-economic, institutional variables influence retention population education. To achieve purpose, cross-sectional was defined. sample used non-probabilistic with n 269 Colombian who were administered self-report questionnaire assessed 59 variables. Data analysis based on means comparison cluster modelling. results show related father, family work obligations, need move from their place residence, academic average education, satisfaction choice programme, communication institution, attention teachers, among other things.
